What time do you serve dinner, how many days a week?
We serve dinner seven nights a week, Monday through Saturday from 5:30pm to 12:00am, Sunday, 5:00pm to 11:00pm. We do not serve brunch or lunch.

Do you take reservations?
For Sunday through Thursday, you may call for reservations at anytime. For Fridays and Saturdays, we do not take reservations. We encourage people to come before 7:30pm or after 10:00pm; there is usually no wait for a table at those times. Between 7:30pm-10:00pm on weekends the average wait time for 2 people is 5 minutes. For 3-4 people the wait is around 10 minutes and for 5 or more people the wait can be 15-20 minutes. For reservations, please call 212-777-5266.

What is Kanoyama's Zagat rating?
We received a '27' for food in the 2007 Zagat survey. The entry reads: "'Still a secret', this East Village Japanese is 'one of Manhattan's best sushi options' with an 'unparalleled' selection of 'fish you never heard of; the 'mimimalist' space matches its 'midrange' pricing.

Does Kanoyama offer tasting menus or Omakase?
We have two tasting menues: Sushi Tasting ($55) and Sashimi Tasting ($65). Both come with 3 appetizers and dessert. We also have Omakase Sushi ($30) and Omakase Sashimi ($35). Both come with your choice of soup or salad, and dessert.

And finally, we offer 'Super Omakase', with no price limit.

What type of tuna does Kanoyama use?
We use 3 types of Tuna: Blue fin, Big Eye and Yellow Fin. We normally have Blue fin and Big Eye. Blue fin tuna is the most expensive and the king of tuna. Many sushi lovers order blue fin toro which is the belly part of this fish. This fish usually comes from Canada, Boston and Meditteranean. The Big Eye tuna usually comes from Boston, Long Island, Gulf of Mexico and Equador. The Yellowfin Tuna comes from Panama, Gulf of Mexico and Equador. Pricewise, Blue fin is the most expensive, with Big Eye next and then Yellowfin.

Does Kanoyama have any dishes other than sushi?

Are there many vegetarian options?
Yes. We have a vegetarian sushi combination entree which comes with 7 pieces of sushi and one roll for $15, as well as vegetarian sushi by a piece.

Parking can usually be found on the street in the neighborhood. There is a parking garage on East 11th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues.

Our dinning room and entrance are on ground level but our bathroom is in the basement.

Where is the nearest subway?
Union Square for 4, 5, 6, W, N, Q, R and L trains. It will be a 5-10 minute walk from the station.
